SUKKUR : The funeral prayers for police constable Khaleel Ahmed Phanwar, who was martyred while performing his duty, were offered at the Police Lines Headquarters in Sukkur.
According to a spokesperson for Sukkur Police, collective prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the martyred constable and for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter.
SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan, senior police officers and personnel, journalists, and political and social figures attended the funeral prayers in large numbers. A smartly turned-out contingent of Sukkur Police presented a guard of honour to the martyr’s coffin.
The mortal remains of Constable Khaleel Ahmed Phanwar were draped in the flags of Pakistan and Sindh Police.
The constable was martyred the previous night when unidentified assailants opened fire on police personnel while he was performing his duty within the jurisdiction of Dabar Police Station.
Speaking to the media after the funeral prayers, SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan said the sacrifice of Constable Khaleel Ahmed Phanwar was a matter of pride for the entire police force. He said the martyr had laid down his life while performing his duty and working to maintain peace and security in the district.
The SSP vowed that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in the killing of the police constable. He said the perpetrators would be arrested at all costs and brought before the law.
He added that the martyr’s sacrifice would not be allowed to go in vain and that Sukkur Police was utilizing all available resources to bring the case to its logical conclusion.
SSP Azhar Khan further said that Sukkur Police stood shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved family in this difficult hour and shared their grief. He said the sacrifice of the martyred constable would always be remembered.
After the funeral prayers, the mortal remains of Constable Khaleel Ahmed Phanwar were transported to his native village for burial.
