Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) will hold the Mufti Mahmood Conference in Multan on Oct. 15 as the party prepares for the next phase of its anti-government movement, JUI spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said.
Ghauri said Multan, the heart of South Punjab, would host JUI’s next major political activity and the conference would prove to be a milestone in the struggle for public rights and against inflation and lawlessness.
He said the conference would help determine the political direction of South Punjab.
JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and other central and provincial leaders will address the conference, according to the party spokesperson.
Ghauri said Fazlur Rehman would announce the next phase of the protest movement during the conference.
He said JUI was campaigning for the rule of law, free and fair elections and the resolution of public issues.
“Lawlessness, inflation and unemployment have broken the back of the common people,” Ghauri said, urging the public to join JUI in what he described as a struggle to protect their rights.
The spokesperson directed party workers to accelerate preparations for the conference with focus, confidence and discipline and to invite people from every street and neighborhood to attend.
