The sacred precincts of Pir Sarhandi Dargah in Matiari witnessed the commencement of the annual three-day Urs of the renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Pir Agha Abdul Rahim, Hazrat Agha Sahib Sarhandi (RA) with great devotion and reverence. The Urs, which commemorates the spiritual legacy and teachings of the saint, has attracted thousands of devotees from all corners of Sindh, who have gathered to pay homage and seek blessings.
The ceremonies began with the traditional rituals led by the Sajada Nashin of the Dargah, Pir Ghulam Mujaddid Sarhandi, and other distinguished religious figures, including the celebrated scholar Allama Alam Naeemi. The Urs was formally inaugurated with the ceremonial Chadar (holy cloth) offering, a practice symbolic of respect and spiritual devotion. The event marks a significant occasion in the spiritual calendar of Sindh, drawing disciples, scholars, and devotees alike to participate in prayers, gatherings, and religious observances.
As part of the festivities, a special session on the protection of the finality of Prophethood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat ﷺ) was organized, highlighting the importance of upholding core Islamic beliefs. Esteemed scholars and Sufi elders from various regions attended the session, contributing their insights and spiritual guidance. Among the notable participants were Pir Ghulam Mujaddid Sarhandi, Sahibzada Abl Khair Muhammad Zubair Naqshbandi, Pir Syed Mufti Noor Rahmani, Pir Syed Shah Hussain Pichmai, Pir Abdullah Shah, Pir Syed Irtaza Shah Hashmi, and Allama Pirzada Muhammad Riaz Ahmed Owaisi, along with Syed Ghulam Mujtaba Bukhari and other respected personalities.
During the proceedings, the scholars delivered detailed discourses on Khatm-e-Nabuwwat ﷺ, emphasizing the finality of Prophethood and its central significance in Islam. They also urged the participants to uphold moral values, maintain spiritual discipline, and contribute to the welfare of the society. Devotees responded with great reverence, actively engaging in the spiritual sessions, recitations, and prayers. The gathering also included special supplications for the peace, security, and prosperity of the nation, reflecting the holistic spiritual and social ethos of Sufi traditions.
The Urs celebrations provided a platform for both religious and cultural exchange, fostering unity among diverse followers of Sufi teachings. The ceremonial Chadar placement and other rituals were performed with meticulous care, in accordance with the customs passed down through generations. The Sajada Nashin and other religious leaders also engaged with devotees, providing guidance, blessings, and addressing spiritual concerns.
