TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has responded to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring that Iran will defend “every inch” of its territory against any threat.
In a televised address, Pezeshkian criticized Trump’s statements and questioned whether the United States had achieved its objectives through military action.
“Let Trump explain whether he has achieved his goals on the battlefield,” the Iranian president said. “Those who sought to divide Iran should also explain what they have ultimately accomplished.”
He stressed that Iran remains committed to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We will defend every inch of our homeland through our actions,” Pezeshkian said.
Separately, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, said that, in his view, the opposing side had violated all provisions of the memorandum of understanding and had formally entered into a state of conflict.
He stated that, from Iran’s perspective, the memorandum was no longer in effect because of those alleged violations.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Parliament approved a Strategic Action Plan for the Security and Sustainable Development of the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for global energy supplies.
The statements by Iranian officials come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following recent exchanges of threats and ongoing disputes over regional security and military activities. No immediate response from the United States to the latest remarks by the Iranian president was reported.
