NEW DELHI: A series of disappointing performances against South Africa, Ireland, and England has reportedly triggered a period of uncertainty within India’s T20 setup, with Indian media suggesting that significant changes to the coaching staff could be on the horizon.

According to Indian media reports, the atmosphere inside the Indian team’s dressing room has deteriorated following successive defeats, raising concerns within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The reports indicate that a key member of head coach Gautam Gambhir’s coaching staff is likely to leave the national team, with speculation that the official could join an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. Another member of the support staff is also reportedly expected to depart.

Indian media claim that the team’s dressing room has been under strain for several months and that the situation worsened after India suffered a Test series whitewash against South Africa.

The reports further suggest that differences between the selection committee and the coaching staff have complicated matters, adding to the challenges facing the team.

Following the ongoing series against England, the BCCI is expected to hold a comprehensive review meeting to assess the team’s recent performances and determine the reasons behind its poor run of results.

According to Indian media, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has already indicated that the board will conduct a formal review of the team’s failures.

The meeting is expected to evaluate the performance of both the coaching staff and players, with major decisions regarding the team’s future structure reportedly under consideration.

India’s recent run of defeats has been notable. The team was whitewashed 2-0 in a two-Test series by South Africa, followed by a 2-0 T20I series defeat to Ireland.

More recently, India has struggled against England, losing the opening three matches of the five-match T20I series, leaving the hosts with an unassailable 3-0 lead and ending India’s hopes of winning the series.

The reports about potential changes to the coaching staff and internal disagreements are based on Indian media sources. At the time of publication, the BCCI had not officially announced any personnel changes or confirmed the reported developments.
