District administrations in Rawalpindi and Murree have imposed Section 144 for 30 days, banning public gatherings, rallies, processions, sit-ins and protests amid security concerns, according to separate notifications issued on October 10.
The restrictions will remain in force across both districts from October 10 to November 8, 2026, with authorities warning of strict legal action against violators.
In Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Captain (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir issued the notification imposing Section 144 across the district for one month.
According to the notification, gatherings of five or more people, public meetings, political rallies, processions, sit-ins and protest demonstrations have been prohibited.
The district administration has also banned the carrying of weapons, batons and petrol bombs, along with pillion riding on motorcycles and the use of loudspeakers.
Officials said the restrictions had been imposed in view of security concerns to maintain law and order across the district.
Meanwhile, Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi issued a separate notification enforcing Section 144 throughout Murree district following a report by the District Intelligence Committee and an assessment of security concerns.
Under the order, gatherings of five or more people, public meetings, processions, sit-ins and rallies have been completely banned.
The Murree administration has also prohibited the display of all types of weapons, aerial firing and hate speech.
A complete ban has also been imposed on the use of drone cameras and pillion riding on motorcycles throughout the district.
According to the notification, the restrictions are aimed at ensuring the security of sensitive installations, major highways and public property.
The Murree administration said necessary measures had been taken to protect public infrastructure and maintain law and order during the restriction period.
Both district administrations have warned that individuals violating Section 144 will face strict legal action in accordance with the law.
The restrictions in Rawalpindi and Murree will remain effective until November 8, 2026, under the respective notifications.
