For the first time in World Cup history, three players have scored seven or more goals in a single edition. Alongside Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland have each netted 7 goals, making them the tournament’s leading scorers.

Mbappé has also extended his World Cup knockout-stage scoring record to 11 goals.

The report added that the FIFA World Cup has now witnessed 3,000 goals in its history, with Enzo Fernández scoring the landmark 3,000th World Cup goal.
