TEHRAN: Iranian officials have responded sharply to U.S. President Donald Trump’s reported threat to target Kharg Island, with a senior Iranian lawmaker declaring, “Come, we are waiting for you.”
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, issued the brief but defiant response following Trump’s remarks.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized Trump’s statements, saying that using insulting language against the Iranian nation would not diminish its dignity.
“The civilized and courageous Iranian nation cannot be belittled by offensive rhetoric,” Araghchi said. “Iran is known for its civility, culture, and strong moral values.”
The exchange comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides continuing to issue strong public statements as the regional situation remains volatile.
