ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad has upheld its order directing the arrest and production of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after he failed to appear in a case related to alleged remarks against state institutions.

The case was heard by Civil Judge Abbas Shah, where the chief minister did not appear before the court.

Following his absence, the court maintained the previously issued non-bailable arrest warrants and reaffirmed its order directing law enforcement authorities to arrest and produce him before the court.

The hearing was later adjourned until July 21 due to the unavailability of Judge Abbas Shah.

According to court records, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) over allegations of making statements against state institutions.
