Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha has emerged as a strong contender for the Test captaincy of the national team, according to media reports and sources.

Following consecutive Test series defeats against Bangladesh, it is reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to consider a change in Test leadership. Salman Ali Agha is now seen as one of the leading candidates to take over the role.

Sources further suggest that he may be appointed as Test captain for the upcoming two-match series against the West Indies scheduled to begin in July.

Meanwhile, reports have also highlighted internal tensions within the Test squad following the defeat in the Sylhet Test against Bangladesh. It is claimed that communication gaps and a lack of team bonding were observed during the return journey, with captain Shan Masood reportedly spending time with his family.

Shan Masood’s tenure as Test captain has also come under scrutiny due to the team’s inconsistent performance. Under his leadership, Pakistan has played 16 Test matches, winning only 4 and losing 12.

The reported leadership change comes as part of a broader effort to restructure the Test side and improve long-term results in red-ball cricket. However, no official confirmation has yet been issued by the PCB regarding the captaincy decision.
