Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran as part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and reducing tensions in the region.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni warmly received the Field Marshal upon his arrival in Tehran. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present on the occasion.
The ISPR stated that the visit is part of broader mediation and diplomatic initiatives, with discussions expected to focus on regional peace, stability, and other important matters concerning the security situation in the Middle East.
Security sources said that Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to hold meetings with several senior Iranian officials during his stay in Tehran. The visit comes at a significant time, as Iran is reportedly close to responding to ceasefire proposals put forward by the United States amid ongoing regional tensions.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also currently in Iran and has already held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. According to reports, the two leaders discussed ways to reduce tensions in the region and explored efforts related to ending the conflict involving Iran and the United States.
News agencies reported that Mohsin Naqvi and Abbas Araghchi held detailed discussions on draft proposals concerning a possible end to the Iran-US confrontation. Iranian media stated that both sides also considered different mechanisms and diplomatic approaches aimed at ensuring peace and regional stability.
Diplomatic sources further revealed that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is expected to remain in Tehran today as well, where he continues to participate in important meetings regarding ongoing US-Iran negotiations and broader regional developments.
Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution in the Middle East. Analysts believe Islamabad’s recent diplomatic engagements reflect its intention to play a constructive role in reducing tensions and encouraging negotiations between key regional and international actors.
The visit by Field Marshal Asim Munir is being viewed as a significant development in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, particularly at a time when regional security concerns remain high and efforts to avoid further escalation are intensifying.
