Dadu (Report: Mukhtiar Ali Jatoi): A large protest rally was held in Dadu on Tuesday, 11 Rabi-ul-Awwal, on the call of the Sunni Rabita Council Dadu. The rally was organized under the theme of protecting the Finality of Prophethood and the honour of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
A large number of religious scholars, activists and local citizens participated in the rally.
The procession was led by Shahin-e-Ahle Sunnat Haji Muhammad Ayub Chandio, Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed Farooqi, Maulana Ajeeb-ur-Rehman Qureshi, Maulana Saddam Hussain Chandio, Ghulam Farooq Haidri, Mir Saeed Zaman Panhwar, Mir Murtaza Solangi and Ejaz Ahmed Jamali.
The rally started from Siddiq-e-Akbar Chowk in Shahani Mohalla and passed through various roads before reaching Cinema Chowk and Kacheri Road. It later arrived at the SSP Mor, where the procession turned into a public gathering.
Addressing the participants, religious scholars spoke about the status and importance of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They said that belief in the Finality of Prophethood is a fundamental part of Islamic faith, while respect for the honour of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is of central importance to Muslims.
The speakers demanded that the government take action according to law against anyone accused of violating the blasphemy laws, including Section 295-C. They called for legal action against any act that could offend religious beliefs or sacred personalities.
The leaders further demanded that if anyone insults the Holy Prophet ﷺ, the Companions or Islamic sanctities, authorities should take immediate action within the framework of the law.
They said such matters should be handled through constitutional and legal institutions rather than through individuals taking the law into their own hands.
The rally leaders also called upon the SSP Dadu, Deputy Commissioner Dadu and the federal government to investigate an alleged unlawful incident reportedly originating from Qalandari Imambargah on 9 Rabi-ul-Awwal and take action according to law if wrongdoing was established.
The speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, religious harmony and the rule of law while respecting the religious sentiments of Muslims.
Participants raised religious slogans during the procession. Police made security arrangements and monitored the routes through which the rally passed.
