Muzaffarabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Tariq Farooq has been elected Speaker of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

During the voting, Tariq Farooq secured 32 votes, defeating Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, who received 14 votes.

In the election for Deputy Speaker, PML-N’s Ahmed Raza Qadri also won with 32 votes. His opponent, Aamir Ghafar Lone, received 14 votes.

The results give the PML-N leadership of the Azad Kashmir Assembly’s top two parliamentary positions.
