Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has said that Sindh and Karachi currently enjoy a stronger democratic system than any other province or city in the country.

He made these remarks while addressing a ceremony held for the inauguration of Shahrah-e-Bhutto in Karachi, a major infrastructure project developed under a public-private partnership model.

During his speech, Bilawal Bhutto stated that Sindh is the only province where local government representatives from all political parties are provided with resources and support. He criticized the situation in other parts of the country, saying that there is no effective local government system in the federal capital or Punjab.

He further claimed that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, local governments were stripped of powers after elections were lost by the ruling party. According to Bilawal, this demonstrates that Sindh remains the only province where democratic values and local governance are being protected consistently.

The PPP chairman also expressed his vision for Karachi’s future development. He announced plans for the establishment of an International Financial Center in Karachi and highlighted intentions to develop a port at Keti Bandar under another public-private partnership initiative. He said these projects would strengthen economic activity, investment opportunities, and employment generation in the region.

Bilawal Bhutto also spoke about Pakistan’s defense sector and claimed that after what he described as India’s “humiliating defeat,” there has been a historic increase in global demand for Pakistan’s defense production. He said the PPP wants Karachi to play a significant role in the country’s “Made in Pakistan” defense manufacturing industry.

In his address, Bilawal also criticized the war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire and reducing regional tensions.

The inauguration of Shahrah-e-Bhutto was attended by political leaders, government officials, and business representatives. The road project is considered an important step toward improving Karachi’s transport infrastructure and easing traffic flow in the city.

Bilawal Bhutto concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of democracy, economic development, and regional peace, saying that Pakistan must continue working toward political stability and economic progress while supporting diplomatic solutions to international conflicts.
