Shikarpur: A ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shikarpur on August 21, 2026, to mark the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism. A rally was also taken out following the ceremony.

The rally was led by Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Shakil Ahmed Abro, with a large number of officers and employees from various government departments participating.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Shakil Ahmed Abro said that the purpose of the day was to remember all those who lost their precious lives in acts of terrorism, including former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, innocent civilians, security personnel, and other martyrs, while expressing solidarity with their families.

He said that terrorism is an enemy of humanity and that the entire nation stands united against it. “We must always remember the sacrifices of our martyrs and victims. We remember, we pay tribute, and we stand together,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner Abro emphasized that the nation must remain united in its efforts to make Pakistan a land of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood. He said that the public and security forces must work together to thwart the designs of anti-Pakistan elements.

Addressing the rally, Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Shikarpur Muhammad Faizan Cheema said that every citizen should play a role in the fight against terrorism. He urged civic institutions, social organizations, and the public to raise their voices against terrorism and come forward to support and rehabilitate families affected by terrorism.

He said that the collective resolve was to continue efforts for the development and reconstruction of a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Pakistan, Sindh, and Shikarpur. He added that promoting peace, tolerance, brotherhood, and national unity in society was essential to effectively combat the menace of terrorism.

The rally was attended by the Assistant Commissioners and Mukhtiarkars of all four talukas of Shikarpur, the District Health Officer, Additional District Health Officer, officials from the Education and Information Departments, District Child Protection Officer, Deputy Director Women and Child Protection, Social Welfare Officer, Population Welfare Department, and officers and employees of various other government departments.

Participants paid tribute to the victims and martyrs of terrorism and expressed their commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities wholeheartedly for sustainable peace, stability, and national unity in the country.
