Sukkur (Bureau Report): Wasim Abbas Sheikh, son of Saleem Sheikh, a resident of the Miani Road area of Sukkur and belonging to the Sheikh community, staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club against alleged harassment, injustices, and mistreatment by influential individuals.
Speaking to journalists, Wasim Abbas Sheikh alleged that he used to work as a women’s tailor. A few months ago, a woman named Kulsoom had clothes stitched by him. However, after the clothes were completed, she allegedly failed to pay him and subsequently leveled false and baseless allegations against him. According to Wasim Abbas, the woman also allegedly turned the owner of the premises against him, resulting in his dismissal from the job.
The protesters alleged that afterward, individuals identified as Irfan, Kulsoom, Sana-ur-Rehman, and Anas Sathi allegedly began harassing him in various ways, causing him severe mental distress and difficulties.
Wasim Abbas Sheikh said that, in an effort to resolve the matter, he submitted an application to B-Section Police Station, which had been forwarded by the SSP Sukkur. Following the application, the matter was settled between the two parties at B-Section Police Station, and both sides agreed to the settlement.
Wasim Abbas Sheikh stated that after some time, the alleged harassment against him resumed, as a result of which he also lost his livelihood and is currently unemployed. He said that the continued alleged harassment and difficulties have left him under severe mental stress.
During the protest, Wasim Abbas Sheikh said that if any harm came to him or his family members, he would hold Kulsoom and her cousins responsible. He appealed to the higher authorities to take immediate notice of the matter, order an impartial investigation, take legal action against those allegedly harassing him, and provide him with protection.
The protesters appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief Minister of Sindh, the Inspector General of Sindh Police, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Sukkur, and the SSP Sukkur to order an immediate investigation into the matter, provide him with justice, help restore his livelihood, and ensure his protection.
Wasim Abbas Sheikh emphasized that he seeks justice through legal means and appealed to the relevant authorities for immediate intervention.
