Dera Ismail Khan: Pakistani security forces have carried out a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Kallachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, resulting in the killing of two militants, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was conducted on December 24 after security agencies received credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area. Acting swiftly on the information, security forces launched a targeted operation and effectively engaged the militant hideout, neutralizing the threat after an exchange.
ISPR stated that the militants, referred to as “Khawarij” in the official statement, were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities targeting security forces as well as innocent civilians. The precise and coordinated action by the troops prevented potential future attacks and ensured the safety of the local population.
According to the military’s media wing, one of the militants killed during the operation was identified as Dilawar, a highly wanted terrorist. He was reportedly involved in several acts of terrorism in the region and had long been on the radar of law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Due to his significant role in militant activities, the government had announced a bounty of Rs 4 million on his head.
ISPR further confirmed that a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the killed militants. The recovered arms indicate their intent and capacity to carry out further attacks against security personnel and civilians. Such recoveries, the statement noted, are crucial in disrupting militant networks and weakening their operational capabilities.
The military emphasized that the eliminated militants had been responsible for multiple acts of violence, including attacks on security forces and the killing of innocent civilians. Their removal marks an important step in ongoing counterterrorism efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
Following the operation, security forces initiated a clearance operation in and around the area to ensure that no other militants remain hiding in the vicinity. ISPR stated that the clearance process is ongoing and is focused on eliminating any remaining threats, particularly those allegedly receiving support and sponsorship from hostile foreign elements.
The statement reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism from the country. Under the broader framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” a national campaign against terrorism, security forces continue to carry out intelligence-driven and people-centric operations to dismantle militant infrastructure and prevent acts of violence.
ISPR also highlighted the professionalism, courage, and dedication of the troops involved in the operation, noting that their timely action not only neutralized dangerous elements but also sent a clear message that terrorism will not be tolerated in any part of the country.
Local residents have expressed relief following the operation, acknowledging the efforts of security forces in maintaining peace in the area. Dera Ismail Khan, like several other districts bordering former conflict zones, has faced security challenges in the past, making such operations vital for long-term stability and development.
The military reaffirmed that operations against militants will continue with full force and determination. Security forces, in coordination with intelligence agencies and law enforcement, remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any threats to national security.
Concluding its statement, ISPR emphasized that the sacrifices and sustained efforts of Pakistan’s security forces are central to ensuring a peaceful future for the country. The nation, it said, stands united with its armed forces in the fight against terrorism, and operations like the one in Dera Ismail Khan demonstrate the resolve to eliminate militancy and protect innocent lives.
