Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho has stated that violent crime in the city has dropped by 55% compared to the previous year, attributing the improvement to enhanced technological measures and upgraded policing systems.
During a visit to the North Nazimabad Police Station, Additional IG Karachi addressed a ceremony where he highlighted recent developments in the city’s policing infrastructure. He noted that this is the 18th police station where a fully operational Command and Control Room has been established to improve monitoring and response capabilities.
Odho explained that several newly installed cameras across Karachi are highly advanced and significantly enhance surveillance. Among these are automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras, designed to identify vehicle plates with high accuracy. He added that these systems will soon be integrated with the Safe City Project, which will further strengthen law enforcement’s ability to track criminal activity in real time.
According to the Karachi Police Chief, the use of smart technology has already led to the arrest of more than 100 criminals. He emphasized that such advancements demonstrate the tangible benefits of modern policing, which the public will increasingly notice as the systems expand.
