ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region and called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and take immediate steps to reduce the risk of further escalation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all brotherly countries in the region.
The Foreign Office urged all concerned parties to avoid actions that could further intensify the situation and instead work toward de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.
“The parties should exercise restraint and take immediate measures to reduce tensions,” the Foreign Office said.
The statement also called on all sides to honor their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), stressing the importance of adhering to previously agreed confidence-building measures.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan remains firmly committed to promoting lasting peace and stability in the region through negotiations, diplomatic engagement, and peaceful resolution of disputes.
The ministry reiterated that Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in encouraging dialogue and supporting initiatives aimed at preventing further conflict.
The statement comes amid renewed military tensions following the announcement by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) that American forces had launched another series of strikes against Iran.
CENTCOM said the latest military operations were intended to further degrade Iran’s capability to target civilian and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime trade routes.
The US military statement followed reports of heightened tensions in the Gulf region, raising concerns about the security of international shipping and the broader implications for regional stability.
Pakistan did not directly comment on the military operations themselves but emphasized that continued confrontation could have serious consequences for regional peace and security.
The Foreign Office underscored that diplomacy remains the only viable path toward resolving disputes and preventing further instability. It said Pakistan believes that dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international commitments are essential for maintaining peace in the region.
Pakistan has consistently advocated peaceful settlement of regional disputes and has repeatedly called on all parties to avoid actions that could increase instability or endanger civilian lives.
The latest statement reflects Islamabad’s longstanding position in favor of diplomatic engagement and its support for initiatives aimed at reducing tensions through negotiations rather than military confrontation.
Regional observers note that Pakistan’s appeal for restraint comes at a time of growing international concern over the possibility of wider conflict, with several countries closely monitoring developments in the Gulf.
The Foreign Office concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s readiness to continue supporting all diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace, regional stability, and the peaceful resolution of differences through dialogue.
