LAHORE: Police have arrested a man in Lahore on allegations of physically assaulting his 11-year-old daughter following reports from local residents who heard the child screaming.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Ichhra area of Lahore, where the father allegedly subjected his young daughter to severe physical abuse.
Authorities said nearby residents alerted police after hearing the child’s cries for help. Responding officers reached the scene and took the girl’s father, identified as Qurban, into custody.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the 11-year-old girl, Fatima, was working as a domestic helper in a house where her employer reportedly complained that she had committed theft.
Police said that after receiving the complaint, the girl’s father allegedly went to the house where she was employed and assaulted her.
The child was rescued following the police intervention. Authorities have not yet released further details about her medical condition or whether she received treatment for her injuries.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to take legal action in accordance with the law.
The case has drawn attention to concerns regarding child protection and the treatment of child domestic workers, with authorities continuing to examine the allegations and gather evidence.
