ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have killed nine militants in the latest phase of the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, according to security sources.

The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and police, is continuing in the Shaban area as part of efforts to eliminate militant elements operating in the region.

Security sources said the forces are carrying out sustained operations against militants referred to by the authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij. The latest action involved coordinated ground and aerial operations, during which nine militants were killed.

According to the sources, the militants were targeted through a combination of air and ground engagements based on operational intelligence. The operation is aimed at dismantling militant hideouts and preventing further attacks against security personnel and civilians.

With the latest development, the total number of militants killed during Operation Shaban has risen to 52, security sources said.

The sources further stated that since July 5, a total of 88 militants have been killed in various counterterrorism operations conducted across Balochistan.

Officials added that the security operation in the Shaban area will continue until all militant elements are eliminated, reaffirming the security forces’ commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the province.
