NEW YORK: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that more than 25 terrorist organizations are currently active in Afghanistan, stressing that eliminating extremist groups is a shared international responsibility.
Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with his Russian counterpart at the United Nations Headquarters, where the two sides discussed the regional security situation, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and developing a joint strategy to counter terrorist networks operating from Afghanistan.
“More than 25 terrorist organizations are active in Afghanistan. Combating these extremist groups is a collective responsibility,” Naqvi said during the meeting.
The interior minister also met with his Chinese counterpart, where both sides discussed strengthening cooperation in border management, combating illegal immigration, and counter-narcotics efforts.
During the meeting, Naqvi emphasized the need to block terrorist financing at every level and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding security cooperation with China.
He added that Pakistan has established a Special Protection Police Force to ensure the safety and security of Chinese nationals working in the country.
