Sukkur witnessed a strong protest led by Sindh Suhai Organization and members of civil society against the alleged harassment of a university student, Nargis Bhambhro, by influential feudal lord Samoon Bhambhro. The demonstration began with a rally from Globe Chowk and concluded outside the Sukkur National Press Club, with participation from political activists, social workers, and the victim herself.
The rally was spearheaded by leaders including Ayesha Dharejo, Nomi Khoso, Hakim Jatoi, Ali Sher Mehr, Irfan Malik, and Sachal Bhatti. Protesters chanted slogans demanding justice for the victim and condemned the alleged misuse of power by the feudal elite.
Speakers accused the local police of backing Samoon Bhambhro and attempting to dismiss the case filed against him under “C-Class” status, effectively nullifying the charges. They further alleged that due to Samoon Bhambhro’s continuous threats and oppression, Nargis Bhambhro’s education has been disrupted, and her family has been living under constant fear.
Leaders demanded that a case be registered against the accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act, ensuring strict punishment. They warned that if justice was delayed or denied, the protest movement would intensify and spread across Sindh.
The protest served as both a call for accountability and a rallying cry against the systemic protection of influential figures accused of crimes against women.
