ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti have strongly condemned the militant attack on a police checkpoint in Ziarat, reaffirming the government’s resolve to combat terrorism.

The leaders paid tribute to the police personnel who lost their lives in the attack and praised the security forces and police for their response, during which 15 militants were reported killed, according to official statements.

President Reaffirms Resolve Against Terrorism

President Asif Ali Zardari said that every attempt to undermine peace and stability in Balochistan would be defeated.

He added that the state would continue its operations against terrorism with full determination.

Prime Minister Condemns Attack

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the fight against militants would continue until those responsible for threatening peace and security are eliminated.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the country.

Interior Minister Pays Tribute

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed condolences to the families of the fallen police personnel, stating that such attacks could not derail efforts to restore peace.

Balochistan CM Warns Militants

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that there would be no space in Balochistan for those who take up arms against the state.

He added that anyone challenging the writ of the state would face defeat through decisive action.

Background

The statements followed an attack on a police checkpoint in Ziarat, where, according to officials, nine police personnel were killed in an exchange of fire. Authorities also stated that 15 militants were killed during a subsequent clearance operation.

The incident remains under investigation, and security operations in the area are continuing.
