KARACHI: A sessions court in Karachi has granted bail to six accused, including Gul Plaza Market Association President Tanveer Pasta, in connection with the Gul Plaza fire case.
The case was heard by the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South), who approved the bail applications of Tanveer Pasta and five other accused. Among them was 11-year-old Huzaifa, whose case was also taken up during the proceedings.
Court Questions Minor’s Bail Application
During the hearing, the court questioned why the bail application of the minor had been filed before it.
The judge observed that cases involving children fall under the jurisdiction of a juvenile court, not a regular sessions court.
Court Notes Issues with Charge Sheet
The court also observed that the police had not arrested the accused despite the ongoing proceedings.
It further noted that the charge sheet had been rejected twice and that the investigating authorities had submitted it again without addressing the objections previously raised by the court.
Bail Conditions
The court directed the adult accused to submit surety bonds of Rs500,000 each as a condition for their release on bail.
Meanwhile, 11-year-old Huzaifa was granted bail against a surety bond of Rs10,000.
The case relates to the Gul Plaza fire incident, which investigators have described as an accidental fire while also naming several individuals, including Tanveer Pasta, over alleged negligence. The matter remains under judicial proceedings.
