BAHAWALPUR: Police have registered a case after an altercation at a private hotel in Bahawalpur allegedly escalated into a physical assault involving punches and chairs, following a dispute over loud conversation.
According to police, the incident occurred at a private hotel near University Chowk and was captured on the establishment’s CCTV cameras.
The footage reportedly shows a man descending a staircase before approaching a person seated with a young woman and initiating a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the attacker is seen throwing a chair.
The video also shows the woman attempting to intervene. She is allegedly pushed to the ground while trying to stop the fight.
According to the complainant, a university student, she and her companion were seated at the hotel when they requested another couple to lower the volume of their conversation. She alleged that the man became angry and identified himself as a police employee during the exchange.
The complainant further alleged that the man initially left the premises but returned a short time later accompanied by two other individuals, after which they allegedly assaulted her and her companion.
Police said a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered on the complaint of the university student.
Authorities added that an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace and arrest the suspects. Police have not yet publicly confirmed the identity or official status of the individual who allegedly claimed to be a police officer.
Officials said CCTV footage and other available evidence are being examined as part of the investigation, and further legal action will be taken in accordance with the findings. At this stage, the allegations made by the complainant have not been independently verified in court.
