RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Armed Forces have paid tribute to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) on the occasion of his 27th martyrdom anniversary, honoring his courage, steadfastness, and sacrifice in the line of duty.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), tributes were paid by the Pakistan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as the Chiefs of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force.

The ISPR said Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed remains a symbol of exceptional bravery and unwavering commitment to the defense of Pakistan.

According to the military’s statement, on July 7, 1999, during the Kargil conflict, Havaldar Lalak Jan defended his post with extraordinary courage despite repeated enemy attacks.

The ISPR stated that although he was seriously wounded during the fighting, he refused evacuation and chose to remain at his position, continuing to lead his fellow soldiers in the defense of the post.

The statement added that he fought until his last breath and embraced martyrdom while resisting the enemy’s advance.

The Pakistan Army described his sacrifice as an enduring example of courage, resilience, and selfless service, saying his legacy continues to inspire members of the armed forces and the nation.

Havaldar Lalak Jan was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military gallantry award, in recognition of his extraordinary valor during combat.

Commemorative events and tributes are held annually to honor his sacrifice and to remember the contributions of members of the armed forces who laid down their lives in the service of the country. The ISPR said his courage and dedication remain a lasting source of inspiration for future generations of soldiers.
