Skardu: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (ECP GB) has rejected requests for re-polling in two constituencies of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, upholding previously announced results and clearing the way for finalization of electoral outcomes.

Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz, announced the decision regarding petitions filed for re-polling in GBA-13 (Astore-I) and GBA-16 (Diamer-II).

Results in Astore-I Upheld

According to the ECP decision, the result of GBA-13 Astore-I has been upheld, confirming the victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Farman Ali.

The Election Commission stated that after reviewing the objections and circumstances presented in the request, there was no sufficient ground to order re-polling in the constituency.

Pending Result in Diamer-II

For GBA-16 Diamer-II, officials said that the counting of postal ballots is still in progress. The final result will be announced once the postal votes are fully verified and included in the tally.

The Election Commission clarified that the outcome will be issued shortly after completion of the remaining counting process.

Additional Results Announced in Diamer District

In addition to the re-polling decisions, returning officers also announced final official results for three constituencies in Diamer district.

  • In GBA-15 Diamer-I, independent candidate Muhammad Dilpazir won with 5,962 votes.
  • In GBA-17 Diamer-III, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Muhammad Naseem secured victory with 8,954 votes.
  • In GBA-18 Diamer-IV, PML-N candidate Malik Kifayat-ur-Rehman won with 6,081 votes.

Electoral Process Nearing Completion

With these announcements, the electoral process in several constituencies of Gilgit-Baltistan is moving toward completion. Authorities have stated that remaining procedural formalities, including final result confirmations, will be completed in accordance with election laws and regulations.
