Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have decided to introduce a satellite-based communication system in remote and difficult-to-access areas to ensure uninterrupted coordination during emergencies and security operations.
According to police officials, the new system will help operational teams maintain communication even in situations where mobile and landline networks are unavailable or disrupted.
Backup Communication During Emergencies
Under the new arrangement, police teams deployed in the field will be able to use satellite communication devices to stay connected with command centers during critical situations.
Officials said that in many remote regions, especially during emergencies, natural disasters, or security operations, conventional communication networks often fail. The satellite system is expected to provide a reliable backup in such scenarios.
Phase-Wise Implementation Plan
In the first phase, the satellite communication system will be launched in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and other remote districts of the province. These areas have been identified due to operational challenges and connectivity issues faced by security personnel.
Authorities stated that after successful implementation in the initial phase, the system will be gradually expanded to other parts of the province.
Command and Control Center to Be Established
As part of the initiative, a dedicated command and control center will also be set up to monitor and manage satellite communications. This center will coordinate field operations and ensure real-time connectivity between deployed teams and senior officers.
A special team of technical experts will also be assigned to oversee the system and ensure its smooth functioning.
Improving Operational Efficiency
Police officials highlighted that communication gaps in remote areas have previously created challenges during operations. The new system is expected to significantly improve coordination and response times.
They added that better communication will help ensure faster access to incident sites, more effective decision-making, and improved emergency response capabilities.
Expansion to Other Areas Planned
Authorities have indicated that once the system proves successful in remote districts, it will be expanded to other regions of the province as part of a broader modernization strategy.
The long-term goal is to integrate satellite communication technology into the overall policing infrastructure across KP.
Enhanced Emergency Response and Disaster Management
Officials believe the satellite communication network will strengthen the police force’s ability to respond during natural disasters, terrorist incidents, and other emergencies.
The system is also expected to support rescue and relief operations by ensuring continuous communication even when conventional networks are down.
Modernization of Police Infrastructure
KP Police have been gradually adopting modern technologies to improve law enforcement capabilities. The introduction of satellite communication is seen as a major step toward upgrading operational readiness and ensuring public safety in challenging environments.
Officials say work on the new system is progressing rapidly, with a focus on building a resilient and technology-driven communication network for emergency response teams.
