Hyderabad (Reported by Mehboob Hussain Buzdar): A protest was held outside the Tando Jam Press Club against the alleged illegal occupation of ancestral agricultural land in Tando Jam. An elderly man, along with his sons and other family members, staged the demonstration under intense heat, demanding justice and the recovery of their disputed property.

The protest was led by Ali Akbar Dhamach, a senior citizen from village Fatan Dhamach, who was accompanied by his sons Mujahid Dhamach and Amjad Dhamach, along with other relatives. The protesters carried banners and placards and raised slogans against those they accused of occupying their land.

Allegations of Land Grabbing Within Family

Speaking to the media during the protest, Ali Akbar Dhamach alleged that his nephews and their descendants, including Saeed Dhamach, Khaliq Dad Dhamach, Raja, Shan, Shehzad, and Shahzeb, had unlawfully occupied a portion of his ancestral agricultural land during a family partition dispute.

He claimed that the disputed property is located in Deh Tando Qaiser, where, according to him, the accused individuals have taken control of approximately 10 acres of agricultural land beyond their legal share.

The elderly protester described the situation as an injustice within the family, stating that the land distribution process had been manipulated, resulting in an unfair share being taken by the opposing side.

Threats and Violence Allegations

Ali Akbar Dhamach further alleged that whenever he or his family members demand their rightful share, they are met with threats. He claimed that the accused individuals have allegedly entered their homes, assaulted family members, and even opened fire, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

He said that due to these alleged incidents, his family is living under constant stress and fear for their safety.

The protesters stressed that such actions have severely affected their daily lives and have made it difficult for them to pursue legal and peaceful means of resolving the dispute without intimidation.

Claims of Inaction by Authorities

The protesting family stated that they have already submitted applications to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and other relevant authorities regarding the matter. However, they claimed that no effective action has been taken so far against the alleged occupants.

They expressed frustration over what they described as repeated delays and lack of enforcement by law enforcement agencies, despite multiple complaints being filed.

Demand for Justice and Government Intervention

The protesters urged senior political and administrative figures, including PPP leader Raoul Sharjeel Memon, Union Council Chairman Sain Muhammad Shah, Sain Hussain Shah, and other high-ranking officials, to take immediate notice of the situation.

They demanded that the authorities ensure the removal of the alleged illegal occupation from their agricultural land, restore their rightful ownership, and take strict legal action against those accused of encroachment.

The family also called for protection, stating that they feel unsafe due to the alleged threats and violence they have reported.

Growing Land Dispute Concerns in Rural Sindh

Land disputes are a recurring issue in rural Sindh, often involving inheritance disagreements, unclear partition arrangements, and allegations of illegal occupation. In many cases, such disputes escalate into prolonged legal and social conflicts, particularly when timely intervention by authorities is lacking.

Local observers note that unresolved property disputes not only create family tensions but also place pressure on law enforcement agencies and local administrations to ensure fair and transparent resolution mechanisms.

Conclusion

The protest in Tando Jam highlights ongoing concerns over land ownership disputes and alleged encroachments in rural areas. The affected family continues to demand justice, legal action, and restoration of their agricultural land, while authorities have yet to issue an official response regarding the allegations.
