Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has received the fifth dose of an intravitreal injection as part of his ongoing medical treatment, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed.

Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar stated that Imran Khan was brought from Adiala Jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad late at night for the scheduled medical procedure.

According to him, doctors administered the required injection and, following the completion of the treatment, Imran Khan was transported back to Adiala Jail.

Medical Procedure Conducted at PIMS

Barrister Gohar said the medical examination and treatment were carried out under the supervision of healthcare professionals at PIMS Hospital. The procedure involved the administration of an intravitreal injection, a treatment commonly used for certain eye conditions and delivered directly into the eye under controlled medical conditions.

He confirmed that this was the fifth dose of the prescribed treatment being administered to the former prime minister.

No additional details regarding the specific medical condition being treated were provided in the statement.

PTI Requests Transfer to Shifa International Hospital

While confirming the treatment, Barrister Gohar reiterated PTI’s demand that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital instead of PIMS for future medical care.

“Our demand is that Imran Khan should be transferred to Shifa International Hospital rather than PIMS,” he said.

PTI leaders have previously raised concerns regarding medical facilities and have sought access to healthcare arrangements of their choice for the party founder.

Ongoing Health Monitoring

Imran Khan has undergone periodic medical evaluations while in custody, and his health has remained a subject of interest among supporters, political leaders, and the media.

Medical experts note that intravitreal injections are generally administered as part of a treatment plan that often requires multiple doses over a period of time, depending on the patient’s condition and response to therapy.

Healthcare providers typically conduct regular examinations to monitor progress and determine the need for additional treatment sessions.

Political Attention on Health Developments

Given Imran Khan’s position as the founder of PTI and one of Pakistan’s most prominent political figures, updates regarding his health continue to attract significant public and political attention.

Party leaders have consistently called for what they describe as comprehensive medical care and regular health assessments for the former prime minister. Government authorities and prison officials, meanwhile, have stated on various occasions that medical facilities are being provided in accordance with legal and administrative procedures.

Returned to Adiala Jail

According to Barrister Gohar, after receiving the fifth intravitreal injection at PIMS Hospital, Imran Khan was returned to Adiala Jail without delay.

The PTI chairman’s confirmation has provided clarity regarding recent reports about the former prime minister’s medical treatment, while discussions concerning his future healthcare arrangements are expected to continue.

Further updates regarding Imran Khan’s medical condition or any additional treatment plans are likely to emerge as healthcare professionals continue monitoring his recovery and progress.
