ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and nine other countries have strongly condemned Israeli actions against the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission carrying aid intended for Gaza, describing the attacks as violations of international law and humanitarian principles.

The joint condemnation statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, Maldives, and Spain.

In the statement, the participating countries described the Global Sumud Flotilla as a peaceful civilian and humanitarian initiative aimed at drawing international attention to the severe humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians in Gaza.

The ministers strongly criticized what they called repeated attacks on civilian vessels and human rights activists involved in humanitarian missions.

The statement also expressed serious concern over previous Israeli actions against aid flotillas in international waters, emphasizing that attacks on humanitarian ships and the detention of activists constitute clear violations of international law.

The participating countries called on Israel to immediately release all detained activists and ensure full respect for their rights, dignity, and safety.

According to the joint statement, peaceful humanitarian efforts should not be targeted under any circumstances, and interference with civilian aid missions undermines the principles of free navigation and international humanitarian obligations.

The ministers stressed that attacks on humanitarian activities violate both legal and moral responsibilities recognized by the international community.

The statement further urged the global community to take practical measures to ensure accountability for what it described as Israeli violations and called for an end to impunity regarding actions against humanitarian missions and Palestinian civilians.

The condemnation comes after reports that Israeli forces intercepted or blocked another flotilla attempting to deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

International concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza has continued to grow amid ongoing conflict, shortages of food and medicine, and restrictions affecting aid delivery.

Human rights organizations and several countries have repeatedly called for greater humanitarian access to Gaza and protection for civilians and aid workers operating in conflict zones.

Israel has maintained that its naval restrictions and security measures are aimed at preventing weapons smuggling and protecting national security. However, critics argue that humanitarian missions and civilian aid efforts should be allowed safe passage under international law.

The latest joint statement reflects increasing international criticism from a diverse group of countries regarding Israeli military operations and restrictions affecting humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.

Diplomatic observers say the coordinated condemnation by countries from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America highlights widening global concern over the humanitarian and legal implications of the Gaza conflict.

The issue is expected to remain a subject of international debate at diplomatic forums and global institutions as calls continue for a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and accountability under international law.
