The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted bail to 10 Chinese nationals arrested in connection with an alleged call center cybercrime case, observing that the prosecution had not presented sufficient evidence to establish their individual involvement in the alleged offences.
Justice Shah Rukh Arjumand issued a five-page written order, directing each accused to submit a surety bond of Rs500,000 along with a guarantor for the same amount.
The court noted that no specific role or clear act had been attributed to any of the accused. It further observed that the prosecution had failed to produce specific electronic or independent evidence connecting them individually to the alleged electronic fraud or the transmission of obscene material.
Under the court’s order, the accused will be required to appear before the trial court at every hearing. They have also been barred from leaving Pakistan without obtaining prior permission from the trial court.
The 10 Chinese nationals were initially arrested on September 19 in connection with the call center cybercrime case.
