Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has expressed serious concern over the health of party founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, saying reports about his health status are not encouraging and have caused concern across the nation.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Barrister Gohar said a meeting had taken place between Imran Khan and his lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, during which the party received certain instructions regarding the former prime minister’s health and ongoing legal cases.

He said the PTI had approached the Supreme Court seeking implementation of its August 18 order concerning Imran Khan’s transfer to the hospital (Shifa International Islamabad) and provision of medical treatment.

He said the Supreme Court had directed that the PTI founder be shifted for treatment and that a medical board be constituted to oversee his healthcare.

He said the party had also requested the apex court to schedule an early hearing of the case, stressing that there should be no compromise on Imran Khan’s health.

The acting PTI chairman urged the relevant authorities to make immediate decisions regarding the former prime minister’s hospital transfer and medical treatment, emphasising that his health must remain a priority.

Barrister Gohar also called for an end to the prevailing political tensions, saying the country should not be pushed towards further confrontation.

He demanded that the alleged practice of detaining members of parliament, party workers and supporters should come to an end, urging authorities to stop such arrests.

Raising concerns over the detention of Imran Khan’s sisters, he said they were still in jail and that there was no information about their situation.

The PTI chairman called for the immediate release of Khan’s sisters, reiterating that political tensions should be eased and that the former prime minister’s health and medical needs must be addressed without delay.
