JUI leadership reviews political strategy, security situation of country

The two-day meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Central General Council began at Mufti Mahmood Centre in Peshawar.

According to party spokesperson  Aslam Ghauri, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is chairing the meeting, which is being attended by more than 1,000 members, including central and provincial leaders.

JUI spokesperson said the meeting is discussing proposals concerning administrative units and the possible creation of new provinces.

Preparations by provincial party organisations for the upcoming local government elections are also part of the agenda.

The meeting will review the country’s security situation, as well as domestic and international developments.

According to the party, participants will also discuss and formulate the JUI’s political strategy for the coming period.
