Severe Heatwave Grips Sindh as Karachi Feels Like 44°C

A severe heatwave has intensified across several districts of Sindh, with Karachi and other cities experiencing extremely high temperatures, according to weather reports.

In Karachi, the temperature has reached around 42°C, while the “feels-like” temperature has surged to approximately 44°C due to high humidity and heat intensity. The prolonged hot spell has made outdoor conditions increasingly difficult for residents.

Other parts of Sindh are facing even harsher conditions. In Hyderabad, the perceived temperature has climbed up to 47°C, while in Sukkur it has reached around 45°C, making it one of the hottest regions in the province at the moment.

In response to the extreme weather conditions, heatwave relief camps have been set up in various areas of Karachi to assist citizens affected by the rising temperatures. These camps are aimed at providing basic medical support, drinking water, and immediate relief to heat-affected individuals.

Health experts have advised the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, especially during peak sunlight hours. They have also recommended staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and taking precautions to prevent heatstroke, which can become life-threatening in such conditions.

Meanwhile, weather conditions in other major cities of Pakistan remain comparatively moderate. Lahore recorded a temperature of around 34°C, Islamabad around 33°C, and Peshawar about 29°C, offering some relief from the extreme heat being experienced in Sindh.

Meteorologists suggest that the current heatwave pattern is likely linked to seasonal climatic changes, but they caution that continued high temperatures could increase health risks and strain urban infrastructure, particularly in densely populated areas like Karachi.
