NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure the swift prosecution of those involved in exam paper leak cases, following weeks of student protests across the country.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Modi said the welfare and future of India’s youth remain the government’s highest priority.
“We have decided to establish fast-track courts to ensure that those involved in leaking examination papers are punished swiftly and severely. Those who attempt to jeopardize the future of our young people will not be spared,” the prime minister said.
The announcement comes after widespread demonstrations by students demanding stronger action against examination paper leaks and greater accountability in the education system.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth political group mentioned in the reports, described the prime minister’s response as insufficient, arguing that the government had acted too late.
The spokesperson announced that the group’s protest sit-in would continue until the Education Minister resigns.
The issue of exam paper leaks has become a major public concern in India, with students calling for reforms to protect the integrity of competitive examinations and ensure equal opportunities for candidates.
