OpenAI has quietly rolled out an important update to the ChatGPT interface for users on Plus, Pro, and Business plans.
According to the update, the company has redesigned how users switch between different AI models, making the process significantly easier and more accessible.
Previously, model selection options were hidden inside the top menu of the ChatGPT interface, and many users were not even aware of their existence. With the new update, these options are now integrated directly into the message input area, where users type their prompts.
This change allows users to quickly choose between different response modes depending on their needs—whether they want faster answers or more detailed and analytical responses.
The updated menu now offers three main options: Instant, Thinking, and Configure.
The Instant mode uses GPT-5.3 and is designed to deliver quick responses for simple queries. The Thinking mode uses GPT-5.5 and is optimized for more complex tasks that require deeper reasoning and detailed explanations.
The Configure option allows the system to automatically select the most suitable model based on the nature of the user’s prompt, ranging from older to newer models depending on task requirements.
With this redesign, OpenAI aims to simplify user experience by reducing complexity and making advanced model selection more intuitive. The Thinking mode is positioned as best for complex tasks, while Instant prioritizes speed, and Configure provides an automated, adaptive experience.
