Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Iran and promoting stability in the region during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Saint Petersburg.
According to Russian media reports, President Putin said he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader and conveyed his best wishes in return, asking Araghchi to pass them along. He expressed hope that the Iranian people would overcome current challenges and that peace would ultimately prevail.
Putin emphasized that Russia would take all possible steps in the interest of Iran and other countries in the region, highlighting Moscow’s willingness to play a constructive role amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
He further stated that Russia intends to continue strengthening its strategic relationship with Iran, signaling long-term cooperation between the two nations across political, economic, and security domains.
During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described Iran-Russia ties as a strategic partnership that continues to grow stronger. He also thanked Russia and President Putin for their support, particularly during a period of heightened regional uncertainty.
Araghchi had earlier arrived in Saint Petersburg as part of a diplomatic visit considered significant in the context of ongoing regional tensions, especially efforts to reduce friction between Iran and the United States.
The discussions between the two officials come at a time when diplomatic engagements are intensifying across the region, with multiple stakeholders seeking ways to de-escalate conflicts and maintain stability.
