PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has dismissed petitions filed by two former Afghan military officers seeking permission for temporary stay in Pakistan.

A division bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmed and Justice Kamran Hayat Miankhel heard the petitions regarding the temporary residence of the two former Afghan officers.

According to the court record, one of the petitioners had served as a special agent in the former Afghan Presidential Protective Service, while the other had served in the former Afghan National Army.

The petitioners argued that they faced threats to their lives if they returned to Afghanistan and also requested permission for urgent medical treatment during their stay in Pakistan.

In its written order, the court noted that the petitioners had informed the court that they had already submitted applications for visa renewal.

The Peshawar High Court observed that matters concerning visa renewal and extension fall within the authority of the relevant government departments. The court stated that there was no justification for interference under Article 199 of the Constitution.

The court subsequently dismissed both petitions seeking temporary stay in Pakistan.
