LONDON: President Asif Ali Zardari’s departure from the United Kingdom for Pakistan, scheduled for today, has been postponed.
According to sources within the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), President Zardari will not leave for Pakistan today. A revised schedule for his departure is likely to be announced tomorrow.
Earlier, sources had said that President Zardari had cancelled his planned visit to France. He was scheduled to spend two days in France but is now expected to return to Pakistan directly from the United Kingdom.
President Zardari has been in the UK, where he was also visited by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also met President Zardari in London during his stay.
The reasons for the postponement of the president’s departure were not immediately disclosed.
