Three children from the same family died after consuming poisonous wild mushrooms in the Duran Pur area of Peshawar, while their parents and another sister also fell ill.
The deceased children have been identified as 11 year old Urooj, 10 year old Faryal and seven year old Azlan.
The incident occurred in Mian Abdul Wali Shah Town after their father, Muhammad Zahir, brought home mushrooms collected from nearby fields.
According to the father, the children were taken to a private intensive care facility, where all three died.
Two other family members are reportedly receiving treatment at a hospital.
The grieving father has alleged medical negligence and questioned whether his children received timely and appropriate treatment.
He also claimed that the private medical facility’s management refused to hand over the bodies until outstanding fees were paid.
The deaths have left the family devastated and raised concerns about emergency medical care and the treatment of patients in critical condition.
The incident has prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths and the allegations against the medical facility.
Citizens are advised not to consume wild mushrooms unless they have been reliably identified as safe, as some varieties can be highly poisonous.
