Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has said the MQM has not changed its position on the creation of new provinces or administrative units.
Speaking to the media after inaugurating an International Travellers Vaccination Centre, Kamal criticized the Sindh government, saying the Pakistan Peoples Party has been in power in the province for 18 years but basic facilities remain inadequate.
He said the MQM had not backed down from its demand for new administrative units and claimed that public resources were concentrated among a small number of people instead of being fairly distributed among the provinces.
Kamal said a large portion of the population from Karachi to Kashmore still lacked access to clean drinking water. He also highlighted the deaths of children from dog bites, questioning the delivery of basic public services.
He further said the 27th Constitutional Amendment was aimed at transferring powers to the grassroots level and argued that the 1973 Constitution provides room for the creation of new provinces.
