SUKKUR: A suspected robber was injured and arrested during an alleged encounter between police and armed suspects near Rizvi Farm Mor in the jurisdiction of Saleh Pat Police Station, Sukkur. Three of his alleged accomplices managed to escape.
According to police, a Saleh Pat police team was carrying out routine operations near Rizvi Farm Mor when officers spotted some suspicious individuals. The police signaled them to stop, but the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party.
Police said officers retaliated, resulting in one of the suspects being injured. He was arrested at the scene, while three of his alleged accomplices fled during the exchange of fire.
The arrested suspect was identified as Jamal Lakhan. Police claimed to have recovered a TT pistol, magazine and several bullets from his possession.
The injured suspect was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police said Jamal Lakhan was allegedly wanted in connection with various criminal activities, including snatching, theft, robbery and previous police encounters. According to police records, cases have been registered against him at different police stations.
Police records show that a case numbered 303/2026 was registered against him at C-Section Police Station under Sections 399, 401, 324 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Another case, numbered 31/2025, was registered at Site Area Police Station under Sections 34 and 392.
At Saleh Pat Police Station, case number 114/2026 was registered under Sections 399, 402, 324, 353 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, while another case, numbered 115/2026, was registered against him under the Sindh Arms Act.
Police said verification of the suspect’s criminal record is continuing, with information also being collected from other police stations and districts.
Meanwhile, a search operation has been launched in the area to arrest the three suspects who escaped. Police teams are searching various locations and monitoring the movement of suspicious individuals.
Sukkur SSP Ahmed Chaudhry PSP, QPM, praised the Saleh Pat police team for its action during the alleged encounter. He also announced commendation certificates for the SHO and members of the police team involved in the operation.
