LAHORE: Authorities have tightened checking at the entry points of Lahore as part of efforts to prevent road accidents.
According to the Chief Traffic Officer, strict inspections are being carried out at the city’s entry points, while commercial vehicles without valid licenses and fitness certificates have been barred from entering the city.
The traffic authorities have also taken action against vehicles transporting soil and sand without proper covers. The Chief Traffic Officer said 108 uncovered trolleys carrying soil and sand have been intercepted.
Action is also being taken against 210 heavy vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates.
In addition, cases have been registered against 16 drivers for operating heavy machinery without the required licenses.
The authorities said the crackdown is aimed at improving road safety, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and reducing the risk of accidents caused by unfit or improperly operated commercial vehicles.
