Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said that new provinces can be created if the provincial assemblies and Parliament approve the move with a two-thirds majority.

Speaking to the media in London, Tarar said the biggest challenge in Azad Kashmir had been holding elections, adding that the elections were conducted peacefully and transparently.

Commenting on the creation of new provinces, the federal minister said that whenever the provincial assemblies and Parliament decide to establish new provinces, the Constitution allows them to do so with the required two-thirds majority.

Tarar also said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had repeatedly invited the opposition to negotiations.

He further stated that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif had the authority to choose the prime minister of Azad Kashmir.
