ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has directed K-Electric to stop carrying out unannounced load shedding.

NEPRA has sent the order to K-Electric’s CEO for implementation and has sought a comprehensive compliance report from the company within one month.

In its order, NEPRA stated that electricity supply to consumers who regularly pay their bills cannot be disconnected on a feeder because of electricity theft or non-payment by other consumers.

The regulator emphasized that paying consumers should not be penalized for the theft or default of others.

K-Electric has been directed to ensure compliance with the order and submit a detailed report to NEPRA within the specified timeframe.
