QUETTA: Security forces killed 21 militants during operations against Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij in Balochistan, while six personnel, including two officers and a Customs official, were martyred.

According to ISPR, the operations were conducted overnight between August 31 and September 1 in the Nokkundi area of Chagai and near Ziarat Cross in Pishin district.

In one operation, 11 militants were killed after they attempted to disrupt traffic on the Quetta-Taftan National Highway and establish an illegal checkpoint. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered.

In another operation, security forces foiled an attack on a Customs House and killed 10 militants. Several others were reportedly killed or wounded while attempting to flee.

ISPR said the attack on the Customs House reflected a nexus between terrorism and organized crime, aimed at preventing Customs officials from performing their legal duties.

The security forces paid a heavy price, with six brave personnel losing their lives during the exchanges of fire.
