ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakib, has said Pakistan and Afghanistan can turn their mutual dependence into an opportunity for stability, security and shared economic prosperity.
Addressing the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, he said the two countries were deeply connected by geography, history, people, trade and transit.
Shakib stressed that both sides should move beyond outdated assumptions and recognize the new political and economic realities in Afghanistan after 2021.
He said developments in either country directly affect the other, making cooperation essential. The ambassador urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to use their interdependence to promote cooperation rather than conflict, particularly through trade, transit and stronger people-to-people ties.
