Sukkur Residents of Allahabad Colony belonging to the Laghari and Khosa communities held a press conference at the Sukkur National Press Club to protest what they described as alleged harassment and excesses by influential individuals.

Speaking to the media, Ali Nawaz Laghari, Ghulam Asghar Khosa and Gul Hassan Laghari alleged that influential local figure Rahim Bakhsh Mehr and his brother had been creating problems for them continuously.

Ali Nawaz Laghari alleged that the two brothers had threatened to kill them while carrying weapons during a dispute concerning children. He further alleged that the individuals were involved in repeated disputes with residents of the area and that murder cases had previously been registered against them at various police stations.

He also accused them of allegedly being involved in theft, robbery and other criminal activities for a long period, claiming that several people had been harassed and intimidated by them. According to him, residents had staged protests against the alleged activities on several occasions.

Ghulam Asghar Khosa alleged that the individuals routinely displayed weapons, creating fear and harassment among him and other residents of the neighbourhood.

Gul Hassan Laghari said that if any harm came to him or other residents of the area, Rahim Bakhsh Mehr would be held responsible. He urged the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sukkur and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur to take immediate notice of the allegations, initiate legal action against those allegedly involved and provide protection to the affected residents.

The allegations were made during a press conference, and the accused persons’ response was not included in the statement.
